Scanning at 6400 DPI captures more detail from the slide creating a JPEG approximately 8640x 5120 pixels or about 20MB. The slides receive a very gentle cleaning. Then it takes about 90 seconds to scan each slide in high resolution using a professional flat bed scanner. But capturing the digital image from the slide is just the beginning of the process as editing the JPEG is just as important. Each JPEG is opened individually in Photoshop editing software and inspected.
Standard photo editing of each image to bring out the best in the images includes:
-Photo orientation.
-Color correction.
-Adjusting the lighting levels, including adjusting shadows and highlights.
-Spot healing, removing dust spots and scratches.
-Slight sharpening of the image if needed.
-Red eye removal.
-Cataloged into predetermined folders for organization.
